
Cefalù is a city full of history, founded even before the arrival of the Greeks, which has seen the succession of many different dominations and cultures and is undoubtedly one of the jewels of Western Sicily.
The town, famous for its golden beaches and crystal clear sea, offers many leisures opportunities. The beaches are suitable for every need, both sandy and rocky, mostly on a seafront. From here you can reach the beach establishments, discos and many restaurants where you can taste the delicious local cuisine.
Walking you can go into the historic center of the city until you reach the Cathedral of Cefalù, inside which we find the famous golden mosaic of Christ Pantocrator. The Cathedral is located in a large square where many bars and restaurants offer the possibility to taste typical Sicilian delicacies. Continuing your visit, you will reach the ancient medieval Lavatoio, where it is possible to relive the ancient traditions of the Middle Ages housewives who went there to wash clothes; Porta Pescara from which you can admire a suggestive view of the sea; the Osterio Magno, or the medieval palace of Cefalù, the Mandralisca Museum where is kept the famous Portrait of Unknown by Antonello da Messina and the Teatro Comunale Salvatore Cicero.
The city is dominated by the famous Rocca, a rock wall, which you can climb following a path that leads to the top, from where you can see a breathtaking view of Cefalù.
